
Captain Rawle Baddaloo left the British Merchant Navy in 1977 as an accomplished Master mariner and held a Masters Foreign Going.
He worked at Texaco Trinidad where he quickly rose to Senior Marine Superintendent.
He is a pioneer of the Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Limited, having worked there for 28 years, starting as Deputy Port Manager and leaving as Acting President. He was able to move PLIPDECO from a Greenfied Estate and Port to a highly respected and very successful Port and Industrial Estate. In that period he served for ten years on the Pilotage Authority, Chaiman of the Maritime Industrial Development Committee and many Cabinet appointed Committees.
Captain Baddaloo attended the World Maritime Universty in Malo, Sweden on a C.P. Srivastava Scholarship where he obtained his MSc (N) in Maritime Safety Administration.
He is the founder of the Nautical Institute, Trinidad and Tobago Branch, a British Professional Organization that seeks to challenge the professionalism of Navigating Officers.
He is a Past President and Honorary member of both the Shipping Association of Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean Shipping Association. He currently Chairs the CSA committee on Decarbonisation and sits at the Head of the Silver Club, a body that has harnessed the wisdom and experience of the CSA veterans.
He is Co Leader of the Caribbean Marine Environment Protection Association (CARIBMEPA), this Body’s main focus is to get the Region to fully comply with the MARPOL Convention.
In 2023 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science by the University of Trinidad and Tobago.
Captain Baddaloo is a firm believer in Saving our Seas and keeping them free of pollution and devotes his time in mentoring young people interested in careers at sea. He is also an advocate for Seafarers rights.
